Balloon Weeks in Austria

The Austrian town of Filzmoos, in the province of Salzburg, hosts until the end of this month the traditional Balloon Weeks, with the participation of hot air balloon teams from all over Europe.

As announced by the local Tourist Office, after the “13th Hanneshof Balloon Trophy” (between January 15 and 22), the “43rd Filzmoos International Balloon Week” will be held until January 29.

Visitors also have the chance to ride in a hot air balloon. The two-hour tour costs approximately $332 per person.

Samples of music videos and graffiti in former German factory

A former steel mill and current cultural center in the city of Völklingen, in southwestern Germany, will present the exhibition “The World of Music Video” between January 22 and October 16.

The event in this abandoned industrial facility, declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, will show more than 80 videos from 30 countries and will be dedicated to topics such as artificial intelligence, climate change and gender issues.

Likewise, between May 1 and November 6, the so-called “Völklinger Hütte”, in the federal state of Saarland, will also host the “6th Biennial of Urban Art” focused on graffiti.

Switzerland for art lovers

Switzerland opens its doors to various art museums in the coming months. From January 28 to May 8, the Paul Klee Center in Bern will exhibit an exhibition by the German expressionist painter and pioneer of modern art Gabriele Münter.

For its part, the “Photostiftung Schweiz” (Foundation for Swiss Photography) foundation in the city of Winterthur, in northeastern Switzerland, exhibits works by the artist Manon, who stirred up the Zurich art scene in the 1970s. It will take place from February 19 to May 29.

Meanwhile, between July 9 and October 30, the Lucerne Art Museum exhibits a retrospective of the British artist David Hockney.
