Mujeres Mirando Mujeres launches the XII Edition Open Call for Women in Art
Application deadline: December 15, 2025
Mujeres Mirando Mujeres (Women Looking at Women) opens its call for participation in the twelfth edition of this project dedicated to amplifying women’s presence and voices in the art world. The initiative brings together artists, curators, gallerists, art managers, communicators, journalists, theorists, and cultural workers to celebrate Women’s Month and challenge the persistent invisibility of women in the arts.
A project for visibility and equality
Since its inception, Mujeres Mirando Mujeres has aimed to highlight women’s cultural activism and the social value of their contributions to the art ecosystem. Following the first MMM Awards, this new edition introduces a refreshed format designed to continue building spaces of equality and visibility within the art world.
What’s new in the XII Edition
The 2026 edition will feature a carefully curated selection of 30 participants whose projects, presentations, and interviews will be published throughout March — Women’s Month. For the first time, selected participants will receive symbolic remuneration of €70 as recognition for their contribution. Additionally, ten of the thirty selected works will be featured in the publication MMM FemZine.
Who can participate
The open call is directed at curators, museologists, art historians, theorists, critics, gallerists, collectors, journalists, and cultural managers engaged in gender-related initiatives and specializing in visual, plastic, or performance arts. Participants may apply under one of three modalities:
- Artist Interviews: Cultural journalists or communicators conduct interviews with women artists, exploring their work, perspectives, and position as women in the art world.
- Artist Presentations: Curators, critics, or historians present an artist’s career through a curatorial essay, focusing on the artist’s trajectory and contribution to feminist discourse.
- Invited Projects: Collective projects linked to art, gender, and feminism curated or managed by women in the cultural field.
Submission requirements
Texts must be submitted in .docx format and should not exceed 2,500 words for interviews or 1,500 words for presentations and invited projects. Up to ten accompanying images (minimum width 1000 px, max 100 KB) are allowed. A separate document listing artwork credits is required. Files should be labeled with the artist’s name and artwork title.
